Cincinnati Enquirer: Northrop Grumman's Win Means Jobs for Ohio
The Cincinnati Enquirer writes that Northrop Grumman's winning bid over Boeing to construct America's next generation of aerial refueling tankers means jobs for Ohio.

The Enquirer reports that Northrop Grumman hosted an event Friday in Evendale — a Cincinnati suburb — with GE Aviation to highlight how the contract will create between 200 and 300 jobs at GE Aviation's Evendale plant.

The paper notes that Northrop Grumman's bid was superior because its aircraft has already been built, flown and tested — and quotes Paul Meyer, Northrop Grumman's vice president of air mobility systems, as saying that the losing bidder's aircraft is nothing but a "paper tiger," because it hasn't even been constructed yet.

"We won fair and square," the newspaper quotes Meyer as saying.

The newspaper points out another reason Northrop Grumman's bid is superior–Northrop Grumman's plane will be delivered faster than Boeing's.

Nationwide, Northrop Grumman's win will support 48,000 jobs, split between Northrop Grumman and 230 suppliers operating in Ohio and 48 other states.

Across the state of Ohio, the contract supports some 2,300 jobs.

The Cincinnati event was the first of many that Northrop Grumman will hold to highlight the job gains the contract means for America.

What Others Are Saying:

In today's Nashville Tennessean, Northrop Grumman CEO Dr. Ronald Sugar writes that Northrop Grumman won the tanker contract fair and square, and that a protest of the award by losing bidder Boeing is delaying construction of the aircraft that is the Air Force's top acquisition priority.

In his column, Dr. Sugar corrects a number of misstatements being made by Boeing and its apologists, noting that Northrop Grumman's win means jobs across America, and that no jobs or sensitive military technology will be exported abroad.
